The Amateur Spaceflight Organization has successfully launched a 5/12 scale model of its space-capable rocket design. The launch occurred at the annual LDRS (www.ldrs.org) event in Amarillo, Texas.

The primary purpose of the launch was to verify aerodynamic computer models of the space-cable vehicle that ASA is currently designing. The launch was also used to test a preliminary build of the electronics that will control the full scale vehicle.

ASA members are currently analyzing the data gathered from the rocket's four on-board computers. But preliminary results look very promising and design teams are pushing forward with the development of the full scale vehicle.

The Amateur Spaceflight Association (ASA) is a non-profit organization that was formed to pioneer the field of non-professional space research and exploration. The ASA Mission Statement best details the call of ASA: Promote space-related activities in a such a manner that safely challenges the technical limits of amateur space flight.
