The Amateur Spaceflight Organization has successfully launched a 5/12 scale model of its space-capable rocket design. The launch occurred at the annual LDRS (www.ldrs.org) event in Amarillo, Texas.

The primary purpose of the launch was to verify aerodynamic computer models of the space capable vehicle that ASA is currently designing. The launch was also used to test a preliminary build of the electronics bay that will control the full scale vehicle.

ASA members are currently analyzing the data gathered from the rocket's four on-board computers. But preliminary results look very promising and design teams are pushing forward with the development of the full scale vehicle.

The Amateur Spaceflight Association (ASA) is a non-profit organization that was formed to pioneer the field of non-professional space research and exploration. The ASA Mission Statement best details the call of ASA: Promote space-related activities in a such a manner that safely challenges the technical limits of amateur space flight.
