Pictures from a Quarter-Scale Launch
ASA's first challenge was to construct a 1/4 scale version of
the space-capable rocket and to successfully launch it with the first
generation computer aboard. The launch site in McGregor, Texas provided us
a great opportunity to test our first rocket integrated collectively as a
team. This 10 ft rocket was fabricated from spun G10 fiber glass and had
two onboard computers one of which was a Rabbit Semiconductor RCM2300 core
module with LCD readout displaying temperature readings across the rocket.
A lot of key integration issues were learned here and provided the team
priceless experience for future endeavors.
